Rachel Monson in Northwestern College Women's Chorale 2013 Spring Tour

Northwestern College announces that Rachel Monson, daugher of Kirk & Sheila Monson of Urbana, IA, will be participating in the Northwestern College Women's Chorale 2013 Spring Tour. Tour dates and locations are as follows: Thursday, April 25 in St. Paul, Minnesota Thursday & Friday, April 25 & 26 in Rochester, Minnesota Sunday, April 28 in New Brighton, Minnesota Tuesday, April 30 in Roseville, Minnesota Monson is a 2012 graduate of Center Point-Urbana High School and is currently a Freshman pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education .

Iowa State Fair Parade Applications Available Now

  The Iowa State Fair invites all community and youth groups, special interest clubs and businesses to join the fun and enter the State Fair Parade, Iowa's largest parade and the kick-off to the Fair. Kirkwood offers info Session to Make Smooth Transition from Military to College

  Kirkwood Community College is hosting an information session specifically aimed to help military personnel and their family’s transition from the military to college life. This free event is on Tuesday, March 19, from 6-8 p.m., in 316 Iowa Hall, on Kirkwood’s main campus in Cedar Rapids. It’s the first time Kirkwood is holding a military-specific information session.

AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps Class 19 Member Spotlight: John Tamariz

  By: Krista Eichhorst Name: John Tamariz Hometown: Miami, Fla. John is serving as a member of the NCCC-FEMA Corps team Pine 7 at the Vinton Campus. He chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps because he wanted to put to use the skills that he learned during college while also gaining new experiences. John graduated from Felix Varela Senior High School in 2008 and the University of Florida in 2012 where he majored in health science.

STUDENT EARNS DEAN'S LIST HONOR FROM BSU

  Drew Kreutner of Shellsburg earned a spot on the Dean's list from Bemidji State University at the conclusion of the 2012 Fall Semester.  Located in north central Minnesota, Bemidji State University enrolls 5000 students in over 13 programs on the graduate level.   

AmeriCorps NCCC Class 19 Team Leader Spotlight: Caitlyn Reynolds

Caitlyn Reynolds, from Southfield, Michigan, is the Team Leader for Cedar 5 in NCCC’s Class 19. She arrived in Vinton on January 8, 2013, to start her 11-month service term leading a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Cedar 5 is made up of nine people from across the country, and they will serve together in a number of service projects across the North Central Region.

Jess Tyler, from Moore, Montana, is the Team Leader for Maple 3 in NCCC’s Class 19. He arrived in Vinton on January 8, 2013, to start his 11-month service term leading a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Maple 3 is made up of 11 people from across the country, and they will serve together in a number of service projects across the North Central Region.

Name: Jessica Moore Hometown: Salem, Va. Jessica is serving as a member of the NCCC-FEMA Corps team Pine 5 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps because she wanted to challenge herself while helping others. Jessica graduated from Glenvar High School in 2007 and Lynchburg College in 2011 where she majored in history.
